Here’s What a New Backup Generator Costs In 2026 Including Installation

Backup generators are more affordable than ever before, plus they can last 20-30 years! But to get a fair price you have to know exactly where to look.

A lot of people think the most important thing about getting a backup generator is the actual 'unit'. But there's something even more important. It’s the contractor you choose!

Here’s why:

Installing a generator is complicated and involves the electric wiring in your home – that's something you can’t risk an amateur messing around with! You have to find a local contractor you can trust… someone who is experienced, does the job right and stands behind their work.

A neighborhood pro will install your generator right AND give you a great price because you’ll pay local labor costs and can get national manufacturer pricing, plus you’ll have someone who knows the area and what generator will work best.

So how do you find an honest generator expert who works in your area? Easy!

There’s a service that will match you with a local pro in about 2 minutes and they don’t charge you anything, at any time. The service is completely free to use. Plus – you won't have to worry about low-quality contractors because everyone the service recommends is background checked (customer reviews and feedback, ratings, years in business). This isn’t like finding a random guy on Google and crossing your fingers, these are all total pros.

Find an expert who can do it quickly to cut costs even more

Good contractors want to finish jobs quickly because they are in high demand – and do great work because they’re so experienced. Working with an expert who moves quickly cuts your labor costs but also means you don’t have contractors at your house for too long. A whole-home backup generator can be installed in as little as 1 day if you find the right contractor, including clean-up!

Here is where you can find a great contractor who moves fast and does great work
